Are you eligible for the First Home Buyer Assistance Scheme?

Revenue NSW has introduced incentives to help First Home Buyers into the market, offering a complete exemption of stamp duty for purchases under $800,000.00 and discounted stamp duty on properties valued between $800,000.00 - $1,000,00.00.

To be eligible you must meet the following criteria:

1. You must live within the property for a minimum period of 12 months, commencing within the first year of ownership;

2. You and your Spouse/ DeFacto partner must not have owned property in any state of Australia previously;

3. You must be purchasing in individual names (not a Company or Trust);

4. You must be over 18 years of age;

5. At least one of the first home buyers must be an Australian citizen or Permament Resident;

6. You must previously not have received a Revenue NSW scheme concession or exemption;

7. The Transfer must be for the whole of the property (part transfers are not eligible for a discount in stamp duty).
